These little lines and caps is the achilleas heel of these engines, once they get old and brittle they will allow the stored fuel to drain back to take and it also syphons the fuel from your pressure side, not good. The best way to fix this fueling problem is to inspect your return lines once a year, you would be surprised at just how fast they will go bad.
