This is how I was able to remove the driver's side rear, lower head bolt to install head studs on my 2006 F350 with 6.0 Power stroke. Very tight clearances caused a small piece of heat insulation to tear away during removal of the OEM head bolt. The stud installation was straightforward aside from this clearance issue. You do NOT need to deform or cut the firewall using this method.
