This works way better than than hitting it with your hand and you won't break the lens. Just be sure to PULL THE DUCT TAPE STRAIGHT BACK. Do NOT pull outwards from the side of the vehicle so you don't break off the plastic retaining pin. Use the heavy duty grade duct tape so it doesn't tear when you make the "handle" to pull on it.
